Position Summary:

The Senior Estimator will need to have significant prior experience managing residential renovation projects.  They will effectively plan, schedule the recruitment and effective management of vendors used to support the Company’s assigned projects and staff.  The Senior Estimator will generally work remotely from home, and they will be provided with all necessary equipment to fulfill their job duties.   The successful individual must be organized, structured, have good time management skills and be able to work from a remote base. Occasional travel will be required within their assigned regions in orger to effectively interact with staff and vendors. They will work closely with, Field Estimators to address project timelines and estimated completion dates as necessary.

 

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Manage Field Estimators within the assigned area.
  • Execute on established team goals.
  • Identify deficiencies and implement improvements to optimize performance
  • Meet with Field Estimators on a weekly basis to ensure clear direction and to confirm the staff are meeting or exceeding expectations and projected timelines are on target.
  • Train Field Estimators to develop the necessary skills required to meet or exceed performance goals and to successfully manage their markets.
  • Schedule, monitor and guide the performance of Field Estimators.
  • Assist in implementing action palns, reinforcing process and procedures to coincide wth expectations.
  • Resolve and field related disputes, problems and/or bottlenecks to production, including vendor disputes.
  • Provide management with field related activity updates and regular reports
  • Improve and maintain product specifications, including trends in products and materials to help control costs and speed to the estimation process. 

 

Core Competencies

  • Residential Constuction Management experience and knowing how to lead by example.
  • Experience recruiting vendors and subcontractors recruitment experience.
  • Conflict management and negotiation experience.
  • Results oriented, prob lem-solving individual with the ability to adapt to a changing environment.
  • Executive presence with strong interpersonal and good communicaition skills.
  • Demonstrated experience working in cross-functional teams.
  • Must be proactive and able to provide timely follow-up.
  • Ability to multi-task with strong organizational skills and strong attention to quality and detail.
  • Knowledge of best practices in construction and managing labor costs, plus a good knowledge of the usesw of costs and materials.
  • Must have a strong proficiency in Microsoft office applications.
  • Solid understanding of local, state and ICC building bose and safety standards requirments.
  • Minimum of 10 years residential construction management experience preferred but not required.
  • Superior understanding of pricing for labor, materials and general details to develop concise estimates.
  • Knowledge of Xactimate software or like software is necessary.

  • Team player, with strong sense of ethics and fairness to all parties
  • Honesty, integrity, and skill in setting and meeting expectations
  • Self-starter, with a proven record of working independently with minimum supervision

 

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred but not required
  • 1 to 10+ years of experience planning, scheduling and managing projects – preferably residential construction and/or renovation projects
  • Ability to work weekends as necessary
  • Bilingual a plus
